As well all know that WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app platform that is used by more than 95% smartphone owners in India. However, few devices won’t support WhatsApp by the end of this year. These phones won’t be completely blocked. But, users will not get upcoming features or any updates. WhatsApp on its official blog had announced in February 2016 “As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use. So, by the end of 2016, we will be ending support for WhatsApp Messenger on the following mobile platforms” So these are the devices that will no longer get support from WhatsApp:-
BlackBerry, including BlackBerry 10 Nokia S40 Nokia Symbian S60 Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 Windows Phone 7.1 iPhone 3GS/iOS 6
WhatsApp on its official blog even mentioned that these devices were an important part of their story. However, these devices don’t have enough capabilities to mix up with the changing environment of WhatsApp. WhatsApp on its blog post mentioned, “This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp”. So, if you are using the smartphone listed above, then it is recommended to upgrade to the latest smartphone if you want to enjoy WhatsApp’s upcoming features in the future.
